A Wonderful Day of Music, Friendship & Community

What a wonderful day!

The 7th Annual Fall into Music / L’Automne en Musique brought together over 102 community members for a day filled with music, laughter, good food, friendship and plenty of fall spirit.

Hosted by Ritchot Senior Services and the Comité Culturel de St. Adolphe, this annual event has become a special opportunity for older adults from across Ritchot and surrounding communities to come together, catch up with old friends, make new ones and simply enjoy a day out.

This year, we were thrilled to welcome Strings & Things, who provided the entertainment and filled the hall with wonderful music. Their two sets gave us plenty to tap our toes to and added a fantastic energy to the afternoon.

And then there was the food!

Cornerstone Café & Deli provided a delicious lunch of Greek chicken skewers, lemon roasted potatoes, green beans and strawberry shortcake. Everything arrived on time and was beautifully prepared, and we received so many compliments from our guests. A very big thank you to the Cornerstone team for helping make lunch such a success!

The hall looked beautiful thanks to the incredible work of our volunteers and the generosity of Jules & Diane from the St. Adolphe Old Time Dance, who provided tablecloths and fall décor. Tables were dressed in fall colours, complete with, beautiful table centers and satin table clothes and little touches that made the room feel warm.

Of course, no Fall into Music would be complete without door prizes and our ever-popular 50/50. We were fortunate to receive 14 wonderful door prizes through the generosity of local businesses and community members.

Our 50/50 was also a great success, resulting in $381 for the lucky winner.

 

It Takes a Community

Behind every successful event is a whole lot of work — and a whole lot of wonderful people.

Twenty-nine volunteers helped make this event happen. Some were there the day before helping set up and decorate, while others arrived early on event day and stayed until everything was cleaned up. Volunteers welcomed guests, prepared beverages, helped with lunch, sold 50/50 tickets, looked after door prizes and stepped in wherever they were needed.

We are incredibly grateful for every single one of them.

A very special thank you also goes to Bev and the Howden Community Centre. Once again, they welcomed us with open arms and made the beautiful hall available to us early for both set-up and event day. Their flexibility, kindness and willingness to help made everything run so much more smoothly.

And, of course, a huge thank you to Strings & Things for sharing their music and talent with us, and to Cornerstone Café & Deli for the delicious lunch.

A Day Worth Celebrating

Events like Fall into Music are about much more than a meal or a few hours of entertainment.

They are about connection.

They give people a reason to get dressed up, leave the house, sit around a table with friends, meet someone new, share a laugh, listen to music and feel part of their community.

That is what Ritchot Senior Services and the Comité Culturel de St. Adolphe are so proud to help create.

Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, donated, entertained, catered, decorated, partnered and helped in all the little ways that made this day possible.

That is what community looks like. 

We are already looking forward to seeing everyone again for the 8th Annual Fall into Music / L’Automne en Musique!
